Brand-new Inverness Airport station

We’re delighted to welcome the newest station to Scotland’s Railway.

The new Inverness Airport station opened for passenger services on Friday, 3 February 2023.

The £42 million project was delivered by the Scottish Government as part of a wider rail network infrastructure investment.

"It is part of our commitment, alongside the Scottish Government, to expand the rail network and open-up Scotland’s Railway to new communities." said Alex Hynes, managing director of Scotland's Railway.

Where is the new Inverness Airport station?

The new station is located on the line between Inverness and Aberdeen stations, around a ten minute journey from Inverness.

What trains will stop there?

Inverness Airport will be served by 34 ScotRail trains per weekday operating between Inverness and Aberdeen.

How far is the airport from the station?

The new station is around a 10 minute walk from Inverness Airport terminal.

Alternatively, you can take a local Stagecoach Highland service from the station to the airport. The number 11 and 27 buses stop at the station. Combined Airlink tickets are available from any ScotRail station, allowing travel to Inverness Airport station and onward travel by bus to the airport terminal. Just search for Inverness Airport Bus Stance when buying online, or ask at the ticket office.

What local communities will this new station benefit?

The station will provide direct rail access to Inverness Airport for those travelling from Inverness, Nairn, stations in Moray, and Aberdeenshire.

It will also improve transport links for the growing Inverness Airport Business Park and the new town of Tornagrain.

The station also offers Park & Ride opportunities to Inverness for communities between Nairn and the airport, such as Ardersier and Croy.

Is there a car park?

Yes. There are 64 free car parking spaces with 10 electric charging facilities and four disabled spaces for blue badge holders.

Are there cycling spaces?

Yes. There is storage for 20 bikes available on each platform.

Is this station accessible for all?

The fully accessible station delivers step-free access via a footbridge with lifts. There are also four disabled car parking spaces.
