Falkirk Tunnel

Falkirk Tunnel

Brilliant and unassuming, the half-kilometre Falkirk Tunnel runs beneath Slamannan Road just south of Falkirk High. Constructed almost two centuries ago, the canal tunnel was officially used to transport coal, and unofficially used by Victorian doctors to smuggle deceased patients. Nowadays, Falkirk Tunnel is fitted with a gorgeous LED system that colours the tunnel in serene lighting to accompany your walk along the canal.
