Veterans Railcard

Please note, the ‘Off-Peak fares all day long’ trial runs between 2 October 2023 and 28 June 2024. The terms and conditions of the Veterans Railcard are not controlled by ScotRail. You can still benefit from reduced fares as Off-Peak tickets will be valid all day. However, the minimum fare for travel during the peak times will still apply. 1/3 OFF rail fares with the Veterans Railcard. The Veterans Railcard is easy to sign up for and costs £30 for one year or £70 for three years. You can choose to have your card digitally loaded to the Railcard app on your phone, or as a physical card. You must always be able to show your railcard whenever you travel to be eligible for the discount.

The card entitles you to a 34% discount on Standard and First-Class Anytime, Off-Peak, Super Off-Peak and Advance fares. Some time restrictions do apply so always check when you book your ticket.

Yes, you can. You only need to have served a minimum of one day in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces (Regular or Reserve) or Merchant Mariners who have seen duty on legally defined military operations. Eligibility documents need to be provided at time of purchase.

You can travel anytime but a minimum fare of £12 applies Monday – Friday between 04:30 and 09:59, excluding public holidays and during July and August. You can enjoy the best savings when you travel Off-Peak.

Yes, they do. For travel within Scotland on ScotRail services, you may be best getting a Kids for a Quid ticket . This means up to four children can all travel for just £1 return. If you’re travelling further afield the Veterans Railcard will give up to 4 children, aged 5-15 travelling with you a 60% discount.
