Alhambra Theatre
The Alhambra Theatre in Dunfermline is a restored venue for comedy, music, drama and community events. Built in 1922, the Alhambra functioned as a cinema from 1924--1965 and became known as 'the old cinema'. The Alhambra's 2008 re-launch saw it become better known as a theatre and live music venue.
Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum
Billed as the birthplace of modern philanthropy, this engaging museum explores the life and career of Dunfermline's most famous son: Andrew Carnegie. After becoming the richest man in the world, Andrew gave away his wealth for the benefit of mankind - discover more about Andrew through interactive displays and activities which are bound to fascinate all the family.
Balbirnie Park
Balbirnie Park is a wooded parkland north-east of Glenrothes, split down the middle by the greens of Balbirnie Park Golf Club. The Park itself has an attractive woodland garden and a collection of rhododendrons, and offers woodland walk trails, a bridle path and some exotic tree specimens, including a rare Dawn Redwood and some Wellingtonias.
Burntisland Golf House Club
First surveyed by Old Tom Morris, the parkland layout of 1896 was designed by Willie Park Jnr, twice Open champion, and updated by James Braid in 1922. Golf has been played at Burntisland in Fife since 1797 – historians suggest 1688! The original Burntisland Golf Club is officially recognised as the 10th oldest club in the world. Come and enjoy Burntisland Golf House Club and the Willie Park experience – his only course in Fife – you will be glad you did!
Dunfermline Abbey and Palace Ruins
As the final resting place of some of Scotland's greatest kings and queens, including Malcolm III and Queen Margaret, the great Benedictine abbey of Dunfermline occupies an especially important place in the national consciousness. The royal association ensured that this became one of the wealthiest and grandest monasteries in the world. The abbey was founded in the 11th century by Queen Margaret and the foundations of the original building lie under the stunning 12th century Romanesque style nave.
